$13.95/tonne average paid by first ERF auction

24 April 2015

Successful bidders in the first ERF auction last week were awarded contracts with an average price of $13.95/tonne of abatement.

Forty-three organisations won contracts for a total of 144 projects across a range of methodologies including carbon farming, landfill gas and alternative waste treatment methods. The projects will deliver more than 47 million tonnes of abatement over the next ten years.

Nearly a quarter of the $2.55 billion allocated to the ERF was awarded in the first auction: $660m.
